"A Woman's Best Before Date"

"If you are gonna get a new woman, you gotta check her "best before date", just like in a supermarket" - or so they say.

Let them say what they want. Women are wily.

Those who've passed their "best before date" make a few changes here and there and then beamingly get back on the stage.

If you ask me, it's harder than being a rooster. The day comes when its scorching hot outside.

And the coop's already cramped but he's still got to make the effort:

Leap on those fluffy chickens and hit the mark!

Everybody is waiting for eggs. And so long as anyone's waiting, there's no rest or respite for the rooster.

Even if he manages it all, the eggshells will come up brown if he's exhausted from the heat.

The white-shelled eggs are the products of cool days, you see.

What's important then is that the rooster's "best before date" not have passed!

But even if it has, when the coop's door is thrown open, it's the rooster who emerges first.

As for us, we're over the hill and on our way down.

The further on we go,
the wrinklier and crinklier we get.

We've shrunk and are even bent over a bit.

But I look behind me and what do I see?

His shadow is young... And mine is bright!
